Australian and Singapore transport ministers signed an MOU in late Sept. that provides for the removal of restrictions on services and capacity between Singapore and Australia. However, in a victory for Qantas, they stopped short of entering into an open skies deal that would have given Singapore Airlines fifth freedom rights to launch services through Australia to the US.
