A small Miami-based maintnance operation with big aspiration is aiming at the northern market

Commodore Aviation, inc., has a lot of things going of it. It is an independent subsidiary of one of the world's largest aerospace companies; it is an expert in heavy maintenance on aging narrowbody aircraft; it has a solid base of work from Latin American and Caribbean airlines and it is based in a prime location at Miami International Airport. Unfortunately, those also are the very things that the company has going against it.

One of the smaller U.S. third-party maintenance facilities, Commodore Aviation is an independent subsidiary of israel Aircraft industries International, which means that it is associated with Bedek Aviation, a division of the giant Israel Aircraft industries, Ltd. (IAI). In turn, this means that it has the resources of Bedek to offer a "total package deal" for a complete maintenance and engineering program to its customers, according to Commodore Aviation President Yoram Shapira. The flaw is, it also means that it has the misapplied stigma in the U. S. of being a foreign company.

Shapira emphasized that Commodore is a U.S. registered company, totally "stand-alone" and responsible for ensuring its own profits. …
