American Airlines, United Airlines, Boeing and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey can be sued for injuries and deaths that occurred at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon as the result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a US judge ruled only two days before the second anniversary of the acts.

"While it may be true that terrorists had not before deliberately flown airplanes into buildings, the airlines reasonably could foresee that crashes causing death and destruction on the ground were a hazard that would arise should hijackers take control of a plane," District Judge Alvin Hellerstein said. …
