Boeing lost $192 million on revenues of $12.8 billion for the second quarter, down from net earnings of $779 million on sales of $13.9 billion in the year-ago period. Results were heavily impacted by charges related to its launch and satellite business that decreased net earnings by $693 million.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes had operating earnings of $313 million, down 44% from $560 million in 2002. Revenues dropped 24% to $5.82 billion. Lower results were attributed to fewer deliveries and higher pension expense, partly offset by lower R&D spending. …
