Mesaba Airlines pilots are suing management for conduct that they claim "breaches the federal law governing collective bargaining in the airline industry" and for allegedly violating their union rights.

For nearly two years, the pilots, who are represented by the Air Line Pilots Assn., have been negotiating a new contract but have failed to reach agreement. The pilots say management has taken "erratic and inconsistent positions" offering only "substandard and regressive bargaining proposals." The complaint also alleges that management tried to circumvent the union by asking individual pilots to meet to discuss the contract. …
