The Argentine government may form a state-owned domestic airline under a decree signed by former President Eduardo Duhalde two days before he left office in late May. It is proposed that the carrier be managed by a new business unit of stare-owned ground services provider Intercargo. Duhalde's move is seen mainly as an effort to provide jobs to the 850 unemployed workers of LAPA, the privately owned carrier that stopped flying in April after 25 years of operation. …
