US Airways. (North America Report).(joins Star Alliance)(Brief Article)

US Airways was approved formally to join the Star Alliance by a unanimous vote of the group's chief executive board. The addition will increase the number of airports served by the network from 700 to 771 while the number of countries served will grow to 133 from 128. US Airways has been working with Star member airlines since it signed a codesharing agreement with United Airlines in 2002. It recently signed a similar MOU with Lufthansa. While no firm date has been set for the carrier's official entry into the alliance, it is anticipated that it will occur within the next 9-12 months. …
