Austrian Airlines Group posted a pre-tax loss of [euro]53.3 million ($60.6 million) for the first quarter, slightly widened from [euro]51.5 million in the year-ago period. "Regrettably, the first quarter of 2003 was badly affected by the global economic downturn, the crisis in Iraq and the early effects of SARS," CEO Vagn Soerensen said. He added that demand has not resumed since the end of the Iraq war.

Flight revenue fell 2.8% to [euro]416.6 million. …
