US Airways splits RJ order. (News Briefs).(regional jets)(Brief Article)

US Airways' long-anticipated mega order for regional jets turned out to be a boon for both Bombardier and Embraer as the airline split its $4.3 billion purchase of 170 RJs between the two. "Both manufacturers were extremely aggressive in vying for our business," said US Airways President and CEO David Siegel. The agreement with Bombardier is for 60 CRJ200s and 25 CRJ700s. The first of the CRJ200s will be delivered in Oct. to wholly owned US Airways subsidiary PSA Airlines.

The remaining firm orders will be delivered by April 2005. …
