Derbyshire leads on Regional Councillor Development Charter.(News)

Derbyshire has become one of the first fire and rescue authorities in the country to sign up to a nationally recognised development charter, designed to develop its elected members and support them in fulfilling their fire authority roles.

The statement of commitment was signed at the headquarters of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service by Councillor Richard Gerrard who was Chair of Human Resources Committee, and CFO Brian Tregunna.

The purpose of the Charter is to improve the corporate performance of authorities, through the development of its elected members. The Regional Councillor Development Charter is a framework developed by local government officers and the Improvement and Development Agency and has been adopted by Local Government East Midlands (LGEM) as best practice. …
