Devon and Somerset appoint new Deputy Chief Officer.(PEOPLE PROFILE)(appointment of Neil Gibbins)(Brief article)

Following the announcement of the retirement of Clive Kemp, a new Deputy Chief Fire Officer of the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has been appointed.

Neil Gibbins, currently Assistant Chief Fire Officer of Devon and Somerset will take up the post on May 6.

Neil joined Derbyshire Fire Service in 1977 where he served seven years as a firefighter. He then progressed to serve in a variety of roles within that service, including fire safety training and lead for fire investigation.

Neil came to Devon in 1996 on promotion to Assistant Divisional Officer in Torquay. Later he was promoted to serve as Senior Fire Prevention Officer at Service Headquarters near Exeter and then to Divisional Commander back in Torquay. …
