Train Derailment.(PAKISTAN)(Brief article)

Emergency services were mobilised in Pakistan on December 19, when an express train derailed killing many people. The incident took place place around 0200 in the southern part of the country, as the train--which was carrying carrying around 900 passengers at the time--made its way from Karachi to Lahore. According to reports, 12 of its 16 carriages came off the rails. It is as yet unclear how the disaster was caused.

A large response followed the incident, with those sent to the scene including emergency services workers as well as members of the army. Equipment deployed included two cranes as well as cutting equipment, which was used to free terrified survivors from the wreckage, who previously had been trying to make their own way out in the total darkness of the early morning. …
