Apartment fire shocks the world.(GERMANY)(Brief article)


A huge fire took place in a four storey German apartment block in early February, killing at least nine people, leaving over 20 more in hospital and sending the citizens of the country into a state of shock. The fire took place in the city of Ludwigshafen in the western part of the country, and required the mobilisation of 500 firefighters in order to battle back the flames and facilitate the rescuing of survivors.

According to reports, 24 people were registered as living in the property, which was eventually gutted by the fire. However, more could have been in the building at the time due to a street parade that was taking place.

Following the incident, the attention of the rest of the world was directed towards the fire when footage emerged of a toddler being thrown to safety out of one of the building's third floor windows. …
