* In his usual forthright manner Harry Klopper the Editor of FIRE states in his editorial: 'This journal welcomes the resignation of the leaders of the FBU from the Communist Party. We believe that this will increase the FBU bargaining power and its influence'.

* At the annual dinner of Derby and District Private Fire Brigades Association Mr H K Frew stated: "I appeal to young men to join private fire brigades. Remember they are the support of local authority fire brigades and the first line of cover for most industrial premises."

* CFO H W Coleman and all members of the Suez Canal Fire Service have been interned by the Egyptian Authorities. The Home Office in London was not able to make a statement, however, the War Office confirmed the internments. …
