Dorset burns its bins.(News)

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service deliberately set fire to two refuse bins recently, in order to show the effects and damage caused by deliberate and accidental bin fires.

Between April and August this year Dorset Fire and Rescue Service attended 160 deliberate and 115 accidental bin and refuse fires. This is an ongoing problem, not only for the fire service who have to deal with the fire, but for the individual, company or local authority that have to fund the replacement of the bins.

It is hoped that the controlled burn will not only show people the true damage that can be caused by such fires but also raise awareness of ways people can prevent these fires from occurring. …
