Life long learning success in Grampian: Grampian Fire and Rescue Service has long promoted the ethos of life long learning, encouraging staff to determine their individual needs aligned to their career aspirations. In August 2005 the Scottish Education Fund offered fully funded development opportunities to organisations to promote life long learning opportunities for all.(Long Life Learning)

A COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIP of Grampian Fire and Rescue Service, the Fire Brigades Union Scottish Union Learning Fund project, Aberdeen College and ETHOS Associates Limited provided a range of distance learning tutor-supported courses.

The qualifications are nationally recognised and the awarding body, ASET Q, an affiliation of Aberdeen College, accredits certification. Grampian Fire and Rescue Service provided suitable study and lecture facilities for face-to-face sessions and offered flexibility to course students in the form of balance of work and study time for the required correspondence and self-study.

The initial selection of courses offered were: Certificate in Professional Development, Certificate in Manager as a Developer, Certificate in Effective Customer Care, Certificate in Professional Development and Certificate in Effective Personal Development. …
