Sensible approach call for health and safety.(News)

West Midlands Fire Service is backing a new campaign urging people to focus on real risks in the workplace in order to reduce accidents and injuries.

The Health and Safety Commission has launched a Sensible Risk Management campaign, calling for people to stop concentrating their efforts on trivial risks and petty health and safety issues. This approach ties in with that taken by West Midlands Fire Service for many years, and which has led to a significant reduction in the number of workplace injuries over the past 15 years.

2005/06 was the service's best ever year for accident prevention. The total number of injuries has fallen by 55 per cent from 829 in 1990 to 370 last year (April 2005-March 2006). …
