Helping young firesetters--that's my job!(News)

Helping the county's children to overcome their curiosity about fire is a challenge, but for Sue Hunt, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service's Firesetters Co-ordinator, it is a rewarding job.

Sue works predominantly with children who have an unhealthy fascination with fire, but her work also extends to youngsters who regularly make hoax calls or have an extreme fear of fire.

So far 500 children across the county, between the ages of three and 17, have been supported by the Firesetters programme and of these cases, there has been a 95 per cent success rate.

Sue said: "The job is really challenging but I love working with the kids and the time spent working with them is so worth it when I see such a positive change in their behaviour. …
