Reducing hoax calls.(News)

Figures from Kent Fire and Rescue Service show that its fire prevention efforts and new policies to discourage hoax callers are paying dividends.

For the past four years it has had the lowest number of deaths and casualties in house fires (per head of population) in England and Wales. Malicious calls have also been reduced, since control staff started challenging suspected hoax callers, and the number of deliberately [it fires is lower than in previous years.

This information is contained in the organisation's latest Service Performance Plan for 2006/07 which, as well as providing an overview of the service, sets out how Kent Fire and Rescue Service performed last year and its plans for the next three years. …
