MBE for Chief Fire Officer.(PEOPLE PROFILE)

Lincolnshire's Chief Fire Officer Mike Thomas has been awarded an MBE for 'services to the emergency services and reconciliation in Kosovo'.

His appointment as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) was announced in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Councillor Peter Robinson said: "The County Council is very proud and pleased that our Chief Fire Officer has been awarded the MBE for his achievements. His work in Operation Florian, a charity sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, has provided fire training and equipment to needy countries.

"Our Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service badge is now to be seen on quite a few fire appliances in Bosnia and Kosovo, and Mike's work has built really good links between the county and these new states. …
