Well wishers: special services were needed to assist a Local woman who was eventually saved after falling down a well in Warwickshire.(Special Services)

AT 1810 ON FEBRUARY 23, 2006, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call stating that a woman had fatten down a hole in the road.

On arrival, local residents directed firefighters to the hole where the woman was trapped. The hole turned out to be a disused 30ft well, which had a wooden post across the miacross its diameter approximately half way down the shaftddle, this wooden post and other debris making it very difficult to get to the casualty.

Firefighters quickly went into action cordoning off the area and assessing whether it was safe to tower a ladder or harness into the well. As it was approaching dusk firefighters knew that time was of the essence. …
