Chris Large--new deputy Chief Fire Officer.(PEOPLE PROFILE)

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) has announced the promotion of Chris Large who has taken up his new appointment as Deputy Chief Fire Officer.

Chris, who currently holds the position of Assistant Chief Fire Officer at ESFRS will be replacing Len Richards.

Chris, who has completed 27 years in the Fire Service, started at West Yorkshire Fire Service in 1979. Twelve years later, after a number of promotions, he moved to Bedfordshire as Assistant Chief Officer. In January 2000, Chris joined East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service as Senior Deputy Officer and was soon promoted to Assistant Chief Fire Officer in December 2001.

With his new promotion, Chris will take on responsibility for all areas of fire and rescue service work, including prevention--educating the people of Sussex about fire safety in the home, at work and at school--and intervention--how the service responds to emergencies. …
