The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service's Head of Engineering and Transport, John Taylor MBE, I.Eng, FIRTE, FSOE is to retire following 38 years of service, 36 as the Head of his department, with responsibilities for the vehicle fleet, rescue and firefighting equipment and driver training.

He has in addition headed a number of major procurement projects involving Fire and Rescue Service vehicles and rescue equipment for over 30 years (see attached summary of the collaboration with TVAC on Lancashire's innovative fire engine design and production).

Speaking of his retirement, John says: "Time has really flown, and I consider myself most fortunate to have met and worked with some really great people at all levels in the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, our suppliers and colleagues throughout the country and I take with me many fond memories of people past and present. …
