Chief Fire Officer Paul Fuller has handed over the keys for two fire engines to Mr Abdul Chowdry, Chairman of the Pakistan Fire and Rescue Project. At a presentation held at Fire Headquarters in Kempston on Thursday June 29, two fire engines were donated for use in Pakistan.

The fire engines are both still road worthy and 'fighting fit' but no longer meet the very standards of the UK Fire Service. They will provide many years of life saving service in the Punjab area of Pakistan, which was badly affected by the recent earthquake, highlighting the absence of a rescue service.

Making the connection between the Pakistan Fire and Rescue Project and Bedfordshire was retired BLFRS Deputy Chief Fire Officer Jagtar Singh who has been the driving force behind the arrangements. …
