* One fireman was killed and a station officer injured when a fire occurred at Aberchalder Lodge Guest House near Fort Augustus. Both men were on the ground floor using a jet of water on pockets of fire, the collapse occurred without warning. Both men were quickly released however the fireman died before arrival at hospital.

* The Sullom Voe Oil Terminal in the Shetlands has become fully operational. At the time of commissioning it was Europe's largest oil terminal. The terminal has provision for the storage of 1,280,000 tonnes of crude oil. There are 15 appliances serving the terminal including two water tenders carrying 1,000 gallons and 600 gallons of AFFF, two Chubb foam Tenders and two bulk foam carriers. …
