Croydon Borough Commander retiring.(PEOPLE PROFILE)

Croydon Borough Commander Kevin Sexton has retired following a long and distinguished career in the Fire Service.

Kevin, 50, joined the Fire Service over 30 years ago and joined the London Fire Brigade in 1985.

In 2001, Kevin was appointed Croydon's first Borough Commander, a post he has held till the present day. During that time, he has built partnerships with the borough council and a wide range of other agencies in the borough. This led to the production of a strategy with Croydon Council to install sprinklers in houses of multiply occupancy.

Another achievement was a highly successful 1m [pounds sterling] partnership with Croydon Council to get 17,000 smoke alarms into council properties over a two-year period. …
