Kent appoints new Deputy Chief Fire Officer.(PEOPLE PROFILE)

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has announced the appointment of Bill Feeley as its new DCFO.

Mr Feeley, 46, comes to Kent after 27 years in the Fire and Rescue Service, beginning his career in 1979 when he joined Strathclyde as a firefighter, before moving on to Somerset Fire and Rescue Service where he climbed the ranks to become one of the most senior officers.

In 2004 he joined Avon Fire and Rescue Service where he was Assistant Chief Fire Officer, attending a number of high-profile incidents--including a fire that destroyed Aardman studios (the Wallace and Gromit animators) in October last year.

KFRS is one of only two fire and rescue services in the country to have an "excellent" rating from the Audit Commission and, over the past five years, has achieved a reduction in the numbers of domestic fire deaths and casualties from 155 in 2000/2001 to 30 in 2004/2005. …
