Firefighters from Launceston, Cornwall, recently had good cause to celebrate, as the seventeen-strong team shared a Ben Fund Lottery jackpot of nearly 20,000 [pounds sterling]! The Launceston firefighters (some of which are pictured here) were certainly due for some good fortune, as just weeks prior to their Lottery win, they had experienced a roll-over of a very different kind. Launceston--a retained station near Dartmoor--covers the widest area in the Cornwall County Fire Brigade, and whilst attending an incident, an appliance was involved in a potentially serious accident. Station Officer Gary Chapman explains: "We were on duty when an extreme snow storm hit Dartmoor. Whilst responding to an emergency shout, the appliance hit a sheet of black ice and overturned, with six of our firefighters inside. …
