* A letter has been published in a London newspaper criticising the London Fire Brigade for employing senior officers who have little or no fire brigade background. A brigade spokesman has pointed out that the brigade's first Chief Officer, Mr Braidwood, came to London with very little previous experience in Edinburgh.

The spokesman also pointed out that Captain Shaw had equally short experience in Belfast prior to coming to London.

The death is reported of Superintendent AR Tozer of the Birmingham City Fire Brigade. The late Mr Tozer is a member of a family who strong Fire Service connections go back to the Hand in Hand Insurance Company in London.

* Chief Officer HW Tracy of Bury St Edmunds Fire Brigade states in his annual report that the brigade attended one fire in the year ending December 31, 1905. …
