THE NATIONAL FRAMEWORK document sets out clear objectives for all fire and rescue services (FRS). In particular the wider and greater role the Service should play in delivering prevention through community safety. At the same time there is an emerging debate over appropriate governance arrangements to support fire and rescue services in delivering the government's aims.

Community Role

Recognising the greater 'community safety' role that has developed over many years, long before a National Framework, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue has always attempted to be, in computing terms, the 'google's' answer for safety in Gloucestershire. This ambition and vision has been supported through much of the service's partnership work, which is essential to a FRS the size of Gloucestershire.
