Emergency response success: the Angus Fire Emergency Service was called into action on December 11, 2005 following the catastrophic explosion and multiple storage tank fire at the Buncefieid oil depot near Hemel Hempstead.(Oil Depot Inferno)

The Angus Fire Emergency Service was first notified about the incident at 0705, shortly after the initial explosion. Acting with all the speed the situation demanded, Angus Fire ensured that emergency foam stocks held at its facility at Bentham in Yorkshire were despatched by road tanker just a few hours later under full police escort.

Additional foam stocks were transported to the scene over subsequent days to support fire crews in their firefighting operation. In excess of half a million litres of foam were supplied, mostly Angus Fire FP70. …
