New incident command vehicles.(News)

Major emergencies will De easier to manage with the introduction of two new 'incident command' vehicles to the fleet at Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

A pair of Mercedes Vito's have been kitted out with the latest computer mapping equipment and Smart Boards to enable commanders co instantly get an overview of a serious incident.

The Mercedes, have replaced seven-year-old Discovery vehicles which did not have the upgraded computerised kit on board.

The state of the art mobile data terminal means that a fire chief in charge of a major operation can find information at the press of a button saving precious potentially lifesaving minutes.

Details of hundreds of Shropshire properties previously only available in paper documents have now been inputted into the computer system--the result of a two-year conversion process. …
