* Stratton Fire Brigade (Wiltshire) have been housing their fire engine in a farm barn pending the erection of a new fire station. A fire occurred recently in the barn necessitating the removal of the fire engine from the burning barn prior to fighting the fire.

* A fire occurred recently at Woolwich Arsenal.

A subsequent government investigation has highlighted short comings in the operational procedures for fires within government premises. One area highlighted was the unnecessary delay between the discovery of the fire and the calling of London Fire Brigade, Woolwich Arsenal Fire Brigade fought the fire for some time before accepting that they required assistance. The gatekeeper to the Arsenal hampered the admittance of the London Fire Brigade whilst he sought authority. Disagreements arose between senior officers of Woolwich Arsenal Fire Brigade and London Fire Brigade as to who was in overall command. …
