President vows to tell it like it is: speaking at this year's CFOA AGM, incoming President Phil Toase assured members he would not be frightened to tell politicians where they have gone wrong, as outgoing President Tom Carroll called on members to speak directly to the Presidential Team rather than barrack from the sidelines.(Seminar Report)

Incoming CFOA President Phil Toase said his term of office would involve investing in people at all levels. "I would like to see the association continue to generate a culture which focuses on developing quality people, through quality management and the delivery of quality performance."

However, he emphasised that the association should not become self-serving. "It does not exist simply to meet the needs of the current members. Rather, through strong leadership we as an association should make a positive contribution to our profession, our staff and above all to our communities."

To achieve this, he said it was important to attract other "talented professionals" into the association, particularly from under represented groups. "'I will personally commit to championing equality and diversity throughout my presidential year," he announced. …
