Suppliers association gathers momentum; with over 50 people representing 40 companies at the FIRESA (Fire and Rescue Suppliers Association) AGM on February 28 at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters, the association's chair announced that membership is picking up as the group's essential role and influence is increasing steadily.(Seminar Report)

DAVID CHISNALL, CHAIR OF FIRESA and Managing Director of AS Fire and Rescue, gave a summary of the major political and public affairs activities during the last year and those planned for the future. The association was launched in March 2005 with 16 members and since then has now grown to 46 members. David confidently predicts an additional 20 to 30 members will join during the next financial year.

Members were asked to vote for council for the coming year and with 11 candidates standing for just seven places, competition was fierce. The seven who were duly elected were: Roger Startin, Bristol Uniforms; Len Dormon, JR Industries; Dave Russell, Kidde Fire Protection Services; Gerry Styler, First Fire; Paul Brebner, Akron Brass; Peter Robinson, Remsdaq; and Steve Bristow, Assetco. …
