Agreement making fire safety a priority.(News)

A landmark agreement, designed to increase communication on fire safety in care services, has been unveiled in Edinburgh.

The Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (the Care Commission) and the Scottish fire and rescue services have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, allowing the organisations to share information and work together on matters of fire safety, and demonstrate their shared commitment to making fire safety a priority.

Jacquie Roberts, Chief Executive of the Care Commission, said: "Our organisations already work extremely closely, but this agreement will allow us to formalise our procedures for communication, helping us to ensure that any lapses in fire safety are tackled as quickly and effectively as possible by the most appropriate organisation. …
