New fire stations in county.

Gloucestershire is to get three new fire stations under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) scheme.

Two new sites will be built in Gloucester while an existing station in Cheltenham will be refitted.

The scheme, costing about 20m [pound sterling] will also pay for a 'community life skills centre' providing awareness training on fire hazards.

The developments, due to open by late 2008, will be jointly funded by PFI and the local fire and rescue authority. …
