The community in the Scottish Highlands and Islands will now benefit from a more efficient fire and rescue service thanks to a new fleet of vans recently acquired by the Highland and Islands Fire Brigade.

The fire and rescue service has recently taken delivery of ten new LDV Convoy vans supplied by Norscot Truck and Van Inverness.

The 3.85 tonne vehicles have been converted at the fire and rescue service's in-house workshop to include crew-cab areas seating up to five personnel, storage tanks to hold 100 gallons of water and additional load space.

The attractively liveried vehicles will serve as Community Response Units, allowing rapid and easy access to tend to road traffic accidents and wild fire incidents within communities in the Highlands and Islands of rural Scotland. …
