Joint work praised after arson convictions.(News)

Joint investigative work by fire and police officers in Cheshire has been praised after helping to secure convictions in two recent major arson cases.

Recently a 32-year-old Warrington man was jailed for at least five years after being convicted of deliberately setting fire to his ground floor flat in Festival Crescent.

And a few days earlier a 36-year-old Crewe man received a two-year sentence after Chester Crown Court heard that he set fire to his flat in Barnabas Avenue putting the life of his elderly and disabled neighbour at risk.

"We are pleased that the courts have recognised the severity of these cases with the sentences which have been imposed. …
