Weather permitting ...

Fire stations nationwide doubled up as car washes on Saturday 10th September, in what was again the charity's largest singular fundraising event of the year. However, many parts of the country unfortunately suffered from the adverse weather conditions on the day. Although wherever possible Fire Stations did participate as planned, torrential rain afflicted large parts of the country, and the charity unfortunately now expect that the event will only raise half of the originally projected income.

Whilst individual car washes are commonplace, the charity strived to recruit every fire station in the country to take part on the day, and wash cars in exchange for donations. The event was also planned to give firefighters the unique opportunity to meet and greet a broad cross-section of their local community, and facilitate the promotion of community fire safety issues. …
