Firefighter given prestigious award for Tsunami rescue.(News)

Leading Firefighter Roy Phillips has been presented with the highest award possible from the Royal Life Saving Society after helping to save people during the Tsunami disaster, where he was on holiday at the time.

Roy was presented with the Certificate of Merit from the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), at a ceremony held at Coutts and Co in London. He received the award from HRH Prince Michael of Kent.

The HRH Prince Michael of Kent Certificate of Merit was introduced in 2003 to mark his 25 years as Commonwealth President of the RLSS--the leading drowning prevention and water safety organisation--and is awarded at the Prince's discretion. It is awarded either for an outstanding act of bravery, or meritorious service to the cause of lifesaving. …
