Snakes alive!

A slippery character was rescued recently in Merseyside when a woman called for help with her car. Pauline Evans called into the fire station with her ten-year-old daughter Stephanie after a snake appeared on her windscreen.

Pauline said: "We were just driving along when I saw this head pop out from the engine. I have a phobia of snakes and my daughter was hysterical It only looked like a small snake so I thought I would go to my friend's house and ask her husband to help but we were driving past the fire station and I thought I would call in there instead. I said to the crew can you help, I have a snake coming out of my bonnet. I think they thought I was going mad."

The fire crew, from Green Watch, Kirkby, saw the head and thought it was going to be a small grass snake. …
