Fire service cleans up.(News)

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service helped build bridges between young people and the local community last week as they took part in Merseyfest.

The UK's largest volunteer event took place across the country between August 14 to 21, with thousands of people working to make Merseyside safer, stronger and cleaner.

The Fire Service played its part by organising a cleanup in each of the five districts.

The Arson Task Force identified areas of risk of anti-social fire related incidents and then brought together people of all ages and walks of life to blitz the grot spots. Tools and equipment were donated or borrowed from local businesses such as B&Q, including paving flags and paint--and even lunch was given to the volunteers by McDonalds. …
