New appliance launched at Waltham Abbey.(Product guide)

Waltham Abbey Fire Station used its open day today to launch its new appliance, the Scania (JDC) P94D. Its arrival replaces the Dennis Sabre XL, which has been on the run at the station for the last few years.

The appliance in one of only three in the country built using 'Polybilt', a new copolymer fire body from the United States. Strong, flexible and modular, it withstands extremes of temperature, knocks and bumps, but is easy to repair and comes with a life-time warranty as standard, says the manufacturer.

Built completely using the 'Polybilt' process, this appliance is the only one in service within Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.

Other changes between the two appliances are: there is no longer a need to access the appliance roof (health and safety). …
