Back to school for Merseyside Firefighters.(News)

Firefighters will be joining pupils in class in a new initiative highlighting the effects of anti-social behaviour. They will be visiting schools in the Knowsley district to help children complete a specially-designed workbook as part of a unique partnership between Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Knowsley Housing Trust.

Pupils from Year 5 at Overdale Primary and Ravenscroft Community Primary School in Kirkby, Beechwood Primary and Mosscroft Primary in Huyton and New Hutte Community Primary in Halewood have been chosen for the project as their surrounding district has experienced the consequences of anti-social behaviour.

The colourful workbook has been designed by Firefighter John Tierney from Low Hill Community Fire Station and tells the tale of two young boys called the M T Heads who embark on a spree of anti-social behaviour such as lighting fires, making hoax calls, violence and trespassing on railway lines. …
