New Assistant Commissioner leads on London fire safety.(PEOPLE PROFILE)

A senior officer with over 36 years experience joined London Fire Brigade on August 1, to take on the responsibilities of the role of Assistant Commissioner (Community Safety).

John Judd, who retired from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service in May 2005 as Head of Fire Safety, will be taking on the London Fire Brigade job for several months until a permanent successor is found for Malcolm Kelly, Assistant Commissioner (Community Safety), who retired at the end of August after 30 years service.

The new Assistant Commissioner (Community Safety) heads up the team responsible for many of the policies and initiatives aimed at making London a safer city. A major target for London Fire Brigade is to reduce the number of accidental fires and accidental fire-related deaths and injuries. …
