Firefighters aid Romanian orphans.(News)

Firefighters from the West Midlands have returned home from building new facilities for young orphans in Romania.

The 30 volunteers, who work for the West Midlands Fire Service, visited Siret, Romania during their annual leave to construct a new building at the orphanage.

Arnold Laver Timber World (Birmingham branch) supplied the timber to help the team complete the project. The branch, based in Oldbury, donated various materials to construct the roof of the building.

Every year since 1992, the volunteers, which consist of both serving and retired members of the Fire Service, have gone to Romania to build a variety of useful and much-needed facilities for children. …
