In recent years DAF has spent considerable energy in establishing itself in the fire and rescue sector. In the process it has adapted some of the most popular models in its 7.5 to 26 tonne LF and CF range to accommodate the specialist requirements of the sector.

The success of this strategy can be judged from a growing number of DAF-based fire and rescue tenders across the country. Amongst recent sales are six DAF LF55 250FF chassis for Dumfries and Galloway. These chassis have been purchased on a three-year contract and are complete with 120 liter safety fuel tanks and Chelsea PTO. The fire authority bought these after purchasing a DAF LF55 15-tonne haulage chassis on which a hook lift rescue has been mounted. …
