School kids stay wise, with StayWise.(News)

Every year, more than two million children in the UK are rushed to hospital--more than 300 of these die or are left permanently disfigured or disabled as a result of accidents in the home or on the road, according to research by the Child Accident and Prevention Trust.

It was these frightening figures, as well as first hand experience at the sharp end, that prompted Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service to team up with other emergency services to launch StayWise (www.staywise.co.uk).

StayWise is a web-based resource that gives teachers, children and the general public practical tools for learning about safety in every day situations. It is the only scheme of its kind designed to address every area of the National Curriculum. …
