Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.(PEOPLE PROFILE)

Nigel Hutchinson has become the new Chief Fire Officer/Chief Executive for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service. Nigel joined the fire service in West Yorkshire in 1983, serving at Skelmanthorpe and Huddersfield stations before being promoted to Leading Firefighter at Halifax in 1987. This was followed by a stint in the Research and Development Department at headquarters before returning to operational duties as a Watch Manager at Cleckheaton.

In 1992 he was promoted to Station Officer in the Training Department where he produced a Competence Based Training Strategy for the brigade before taking up post as Station Commander at Fairweather Green Station in Bradford and then Moortown Station in Leeds. …
